| "To Risk"
To laugh is to risk appearing a fool, To weep is to risk appearing sentimental To reach out to another is to risk involvement, To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss To love is to risk not being loved in return, To hope is to risk despair, To try is to risk to failure. But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live. Chained by his servitude he is a slave who has forfeited all freedom. Only a person who risks is free. The pessimist complains about the wind; The optimist expects it to change; And the realist adjusts the sails.
- William Arthur Ward
Here's to the risk-takers.

| "it is quite a misfortune to be born the eldest of three. Everyone knows you are the one who will fail first, and worst, when the three of you set out to seek your fortunes." - Diana Wynne Jones from Howl's Moving Castle.
The insights from Children's Literature. Who knew that this would make ENGL 286 worthwhile.

maggie and milly and molly and may went down to the beach(to play one day)
and maggie discovered a shell that sang so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and
milly befriended a stranded star whose rays five languid fingers were;
and molly was chased by a horrible thing which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:and
may came home with a smooth round stone as small as a world and as large as alone.
For whatever we lose(like a you or a me) it's always ourselves we find in the sea
E. E. Cummings

| I think I remember what my first xanga entry was about. I believe it was when I went to the hairdresser above 7 eleven (doesn't that sound like a dodgy idea....?) and was surprised when I came away from the experience looking like a recently electrocuted circus clown. Ah the young are so foolish.
Can't lie, I seem to be a bit down ...
Interestingly, the man serving me at the grog shop the other day told me that he doesn't believe in global warming... and whats more, said "You don't believe in that crap, do you?"......why yes, yes I do. I mean, my room is largest storage facility for water in this drought-stricken country. Yea, that crap.....
I now have a psych essay due wednesday. Not really happening for me. I have to do something about it. I feel no drive.... nor am I particularly concerned for the consequences....Besides which, not going to do well anyhow. I'll get to it.
I have a feeling I might be sick from the mold that was growing under my sink for quite some time before the flooding...
My hair is straight again. for anyone interested. yes I am still the same person. I also painted my nails red, and they're plastic again. I know, going wild.
Why don't I have a nickname?
Alright, nite.
